With our 3 day weekend, we went to Elawa Farm on Friday, and then made a day trip to 2 lakes in Wisconsin on Saturday (June 2nd). This past weekend was free fishing in Wisconsin, so we loaded our poles, bait, packed lunches and our little munchkin and hit the road for Lake Elizabeth before 7am. Devin was SO EXCITED! He did so much planning and researching to make sure we maximized our day to the fullest. We haven't been fishing together since before Emily was born, so this outing was long over due, and boy was it fun. The morning could not have been more beautiful; perfect temperature and perfect bright blue skies. Emily can be hit or miss (usually miss) when it comes to public outings, so we were a bit nervous about how she would do on a confined, small little row boat that we rented. To our surprise, she did GREAT on the boat. We were out on the lake for almost 5 hours! Can you believe that? An almost 2 year old was pleasant and content sitting on a row boat for 5 hours! Thank you Emily!!
This fish weren't big, but they were biting and the thrill of feeling the tension on your line as you start to reel it in was really fun...no matter how big the fish was at the end of hook. Emily wasn't as into the fish as we thought she would be; a little timid. I am just so happy that Devin's little dream day happened before our world gets rocked, in the coming days, with a new baby. He does SO MUCH for school, rotations and our family, that his hobbies often take the back burner...he really deserved a content little toddler and a willing, 9 month pregnant, wife to go out on the lake with him for a morning.
At around 1pm, we came off the lake, freshened up a bit and headed to Lake Geneva just a half hour away. I have wanted to visit this touristy town since we moved to Illinois, and we finally made it happen, although we have very few pictures to show for it. We walked the cute little shops right off the water, walked out on the piers, drove around part of the lake to see some of the mansions and then parked it under a tree while Emily ran up and down a grassy hill to exert some pent up energy.

Since we were going to pass Lake Elizabeth on our drive home, we toyed with the idea of getting out on the boat for some evening fishing (we rented the boat for the whole day), but decided that Emily would do better at a restaurant, and then get her home for a decent bedtime. Glad we chose this option, because she wouldn't have lasted on the lake.
After being awake for over 12 hours (something that has NEVER happened in her lifetime to date) she passed out so fast on our drive home. Aside from a few meltdowns in Lake Geneva and while waiting for a table at the restaurant, she did fantastic for such a long day with no nap. We'll take it!

That shot of the tree is AWESOME! Will you send me a copy of it? I want to pump it up in photoshop.
