Thanksgiving Weekend at the Cabin

I'm still waiting to receive pictures from Thanksgiving Day from various sister in laws, so that post is forthcoming. In the meantime, I want to document our trip to the Tranter family cabin, with all of Devin's siblings, spouses and kids.

It is always such a good time being up at the cabin. Everyone in sleepwear attire the entire time, eating good food, watching movies and sports, reading novels and trash magazines, playing games and chatting...all while trying to keep the little ones happy and entertained so more of the aforementioned can happen.

We all went up Thanksgiving night, and stayed until Saturday afternoon. After we put the kids down on Thursday night, the husbands went in the basement to play nintendo (lame) while the wives chatted at the kitchen table. At about 11:30pm we got the wild idea to drive down the mountain and into Park City for Black Friday shopping. It was a thrill...we were FREE, with no kids...we stopped and bought large Diet Cokes from the McDonald's drive thru and we hit the outlets hard finding some great deals. We got home and in bed by 3:30am...and boy did we feel it the next morning. We had mom hangovers due to our small children waking up so freaking early. But the freedom shopping was worth it!

Don't you remember playing with these when you were a kid?

The cabin is nestled in the mountains, and takes about 20 minutes to drive to on dirt roads off of the freeway. It is so secluded, and has beautiful views of nature. We have gotten to know the dirt roads pretty well by now, and love breathing in the fresh, crisp mountain air while snow shoeing or walking/hiking on the roads around the cabin. As awesome as it is to be snuggled up in a warm log cabin, the great outdoors offer a nice contrast.

Devin driving the four-wheeler past Cami and me while we were on a long walk. I had Devin take a picture of us too, but he didn't actually hit the button to take the picture when he thought he had (lame again).

And finally the SLEDDING. We only had Claire out with us for 15 min, then handed her off to Suz inside so Devin and I could really have fun with Emily. It's amazing the difference a year can make. Emily was LOVING the snow and sledding down the hill.

Family of 4 on one sled...it actually worked out.

We made it to the bottom in tact...Emily was sad it was over.

The next several pictures are of Knox and Emily sledding together. They were so stinkin' cute. Knox was such a gentlemen...wrapping his arms around Emily so she wouldn't fly off.  And just look at Emily's face...PURE JOY!

Emily and I rode on a sled pulled by Devin on a four-wheeler.

And that's it. I didn't get any pictures from Saturday, but it was more of the same.
