Christmas Magic

Devin flew back to Utah (from Texas) on Sunday night. I am so thankful that it worked out for him to finish his rotation last Friday, and that he was back with us for Christmas Eve/Day. He will be taking his boards part II in Utah next Friday, Jan 4th, and until then he will be a slave to the library putting in the study hours...BUT...at least we will be under the same roof at nighttime. Huge blessing!

The night he came home, the girls and I were in the beginning stages of what has turned out to be a long, drawn out sickness that is still holding us hostage in the house. Emily and Claire both have bad colds pink eye, and I have an ear infection in both ears to accompany my sore throat and congested head. We had plans to go to Wanship to be with my family Christmas Eve day, followed by a trip to Devin's Grandpa's farm Christmas Eve night, but none of that happened. Disappointing! I had big hopes of making Christmas Eve perfect, filled with small traditions that we (Devin and I) envision having with our kids, but all we managed to get accomplished was reading 1 Christmas story by the tree before putting the girls to bed.

Then Devin played a few hymns on the piano, with Emily at his side/in his lap, and Claire stretched out on the floor patiently waiting to be put to bed.

Christmas morning, while it started almost in the afternoon due to sick babies (and sick me) sleeping in, did not disappoint! It was SO FUN to be on the parent side of Christmas, watching Emily and Claire enjoy their gifts.

Christmas afternoon we managed to finally get ourselves out of our pajamas and out of the house for a few hours. We headed over to Grandpa Tranter's house for lunch, and then came back to the house for the rest of the day/night with all of Devin's siblings and their kids.

And here we are today, the day after Christmas, and still sick, dang it! But, it hasn't stopped the girls from playing with their new toys.

Here's to hoping tomorrow we will be on the back-end of this sick phase!
