1st Visit to the ER

Emily woke up Friday morning wheezing and had labored breathing, so I scheduled an appointment to see the pediatrician that afternoon. We went from spending an hour and a half in the pediatrician's office, to spending 3 1/2 more hours at the ER. Her oxygen levels were lower than the pediatrician was comfortable with, so we went to the ER to have a few chest X-Rays taken, do a few different breathing treatments with the respiratory therapist, and have her hooked up to a monitor to track her progression in the right direction: breathing normally. For as long as we were gone, and she was poked and prodded by various nurses and doctors, Emily did SO GOOD! She was pretty lethargic and miserable the whole day. It was sad. Turns out she has a mild case of pneumonia and an ear infection in her left ear. We were sent home with a nebulizer, stopped at Walgreens to pick up 2 prescriptions, and have been taking extra care of the little buttercup all weekend.

The BEST news to report all weekend is that Devin came home to us Friday night about an hour after we got home from the ER. He has been away from us for 3 months straight (due to med school rotations) and is finally back for a little while. It has been such a low key weekend, taking care of our sick one, but has been so nice to just be under the same roof...all 3 of us. I'm so grateful for Devin's hard work and perseverance through this grueling rotation schedule, and love that he is home!

She really loved that there was a koala on her little hospital gown, and kept pointing to it saying, "wala".

We have to do breathing treatments with her a few times a day, and she actually does really well with it.

We went into the pediatrician's office for a follow up this morning. As soon as the nurse walked in the room she started crying. She has seen too many nurses and doctors the past few days. While we were waiting for the doctor to come in, we found a bottle of bubbles on the counter, and they cheered her right up.

What a mean April Fool's Joke! I'm so glad she is perking up and getting back to her active self gracefully chasing bubbles The picture of her laying on the hospital bed makes me want to scoop her up and hold her. She sure is a beautiful little girl!

Maybe it is a Tranter thing. Both my kids have inhalers, and we do breathing treatments often. Not fun! Glad she is doing better!
