4th of July did not disappoint this year. If it weren't for the heat, it would be my favorite holiday after Christmas. (The older I get, the less I can handle the heat with a good attitude.) This year we spent the whole day in Lake Forest with our best friends, the Wright's. I know I have talked about them before, but just so we are all on the same page, Tom and Sydney are 2 years behind us in Podiatry school, and we became fast friends when they moved to our same area 2 years ago. We love them, and even though we live a good hour drive away now, we still have to see them once a week.
We went to the beach and then to Lake Forest fireworks. Low key, relaxing and fun. Sydney is expecting her 2nd baby any day now. Poor thing was due 10 days ago.

Before we left the house Emily wanted to show me her pilot hat that Grammy and Grandpa Houck gave her. And she called this dress her "firework dress."
These two have a hot/cold relationship...we are hoping it mellows out soon. Hudson is a year younger than Emily and a year older than Claire...right smack in the middle.
Nothing like eating sand on a hot day...
Firework show...
Partied out!
The next night we went to the local fair. Emily cried the whole time while riding the carousel....and Claire LOVED it.
